When asked to wrap the skyline of New York City in masking tape for a company that manufactured adhesive tapes, I had some hesitation. The art director had a terrific idea, but I needed a solution with an approach that I could execute. In the old days, the talents a model maker would be sought out. Now with the computer, blocks of scanned tape were procedurally mapped on a greyscale rendition of the skyline to match the lighting of the original photo. Brightness and contrast values were boosted to restore dimension to the textures that were to resemble the shapes of buildings. A new sky was added to complement the feeling of this new skyline!
